PHOTOS: Apple iPhone 3GS ads are popping up all over China

Over the last few days, I started noticing an increase in iPhone 3GS advertisements on the streets. Popping up everywhere, on bus stop routes, sides of buildings. Some have lights connected and are lit up all night.

Measuring Economic Growth From Outer Space

From: the National Bureau of Economic Research, by J. Vernon Henderson, Adam Storeygard, David N. Weil

"as people get richer, they have the money to spend on light and demand more light," adding, "We also know that when they get rich enough, they demand infrastructure for electricity, not just for lights but for televisions, radios, refrigerators, and whatnot. So we see that as people get richer they do more activities at night, they drive at night, they get street lights and so on."

"In all these different ways the amount of light that people consume is an indicator of how wealthy people are" David Weil says
